But the thing failed last week after 3 months occasional use. waiting for a replacement?? good job it has a 5 year guarantee. Hands down the most annoying piece of hardware I've ever owned. (16 May 2010)From the moment I bought this memory stick up until 2 minutes ago when I finally said "Enough is enough" and threw it in the bin, this Sony memory stick has been the bane of my digital life. It's a fine piece of hardware so long as it works. BUT!!!! It seems to have a mind of it's own as to whether or not it works. Sometimes I would plug it in and the folders screen would load up, but then as soon as you try to transfer something either to it or from it, the computer tells you that the device isn't there anymore. So you try again, and again, and again, then you get really fed up and use your old smaller 1gb stick which takes a lifetime. On other occasions I would transfer something huge like a 4gb video file, it would take 45 minutes and then decide right in the last 2 minutes that the memory stick has vanished again. Truly the epitome of frustration. And it's not just my computer, it's the same on all ones that I have used this on. Let me recommend to you all the 'Integral Courier'. Faultless technology! Sony have let me down. excellent (14 May 2010)Does exactly what it says on the box - loads of space for files - takes up very little room great sony product (13 March 2010)a great sony product. bought mainly for transfering/transporting (bulky) files. works with xp & windows7. i quite like the pen click style coz no caps to lose, though the automatic retraction when removing from the usb port/socket always makes me think i've broken it. only downside of no cap is that the plug is not dust-protected. the small hole at the end works well with lanyards, couldn't fit my keyring though (maybe a small, thin one?). be aware that light flashes on the orange bit when the drive is in use. only 4 stars because quite expensive. you can get a 16gb of a different make for the same price...but then again, i've always been a sony fanatic. The 'pen click' feature for extending or retracting the USB plugs is neat and saves having a separate cap that can get lost. I see that some other reviewers have found the small key ring ring a bit small, but I think this is a minor flaw. The only reason I did not rate this 'I love it' is because I try not to fall for inanimate objects. |
