The worst thing I have ever bought (28 November 2007)
Please DO NOT BUY this product.

It is without doubt the worst mp3 player on the market, and probably the worst waste of money I have ever had. The File Master software that comes with the player is absolutely awful. Every function is completely counter-intuitive. Deleting files from the player in the software actually only removes the files from the playlist - it does not delete the file. You need to do this seperately in your normal windows explorer. WHY?

The player crashes all the time. The random play function requires you to start a new playlist every time you start the player before taking effect. And sometimes its not actually random.

My player has now completely given up. After trying to remove all files and reload them in the hope that this would solve some problems, the player will now only recognise songs beginning with the letters A-D. When trying to look at Album or tracklists it says that no tracks are available, even though well over 1000 are actually on there.

I've given up hope on it and have had to write it off as a terrible error in judgement on my part. I will never buy a Sanyo product again. Please don't make the same mistake as me. Avoid this product.

Best Value for money MP3 player ever! (19 March 2007)
You will be hard pushed to find a 5 GB MP3 player for this price from such a reputable company. The player is very basic, it doesn't come with loads of pointless extra features, but what you get is a very reliable, capable device with a great sized memory! You will stand out from the iPod crowd as well.

All in all, probably the best money you will ever spend!

  Sanyo HDP-MM3000 6GB MP3 Player (06 October 2006)
I also received this as a gift for Xmas.
Have had very little trouble with the device. The menu system can be a little difficult to get around, but like most things, once you are used to it you manage OK.
MFM was fine - although I use another piece of software to rip the mp3 files, I then use MFM to load it onto the device - can't say I have had any problems with speed - maybe some people are just too impatient!
It has locked up once or twice, but pressing the reset button solves everything without screwing up the files on the device.
Battery life is a little disappointing, and I haven't found a mains charger yet which would power it up, and it won't take any juice from an in-car adaptor as the i-pod does.
That said, I use this in the car (via an FM transmitter) all the time, and I have just under 500 tracks on it at the moment, and I haven't even half filled the memory yet. On a long drive I still haven't got through all of the tracks.
All in all, a great buy I think

good to start with (15 August 2006)
i got this item for christmas from my parents and i was really pleased with it for the first week, but as soon as i tried to put more songs onto it, it kept freezing and the music file master (sanyo's version of iTunes) hardly ever responds. it's got decent sound quality but it's worth spending another £20 -£30 on an ipod cos they're much easier to work and iTunes never freezes. Do not get this.

  Its OK (13 August 2006)
This MP3 player has decent sound quality and the software is fantastic, if a bit slow if you know how to use it.
However, the battery life is fairly poor loosing a bar practically every time you turn it on. The plastic casing on the back of the mp3 player is prone to scratches and cracks from buttons and stuff like that in pockets. The menu is fairly slow and the buttons are a bit fiddly but they're ok.
Over all an ok MP3 for the price but its probably worth splashing out a bit more on an ipod, sony or Creative Zen.
Hope This helped
