| ![]() | Customer Reviews:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Olympus digital voice recorder (28 March 2010)I bought this recorder to use when practising my piano and it has proved extremely useful. I didn't want to spend too much money so the Olympus recorder has been very good value for money. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent for the money (20 March 2010)It's small, it's neat, the buttons are very easy to use, and it does what it says it does - i.e. it records. No, you can't transfer what's on it to a PC, but then it doesn't say you can. No, it doesn't come with any earphones - you have to buy your own and plug them into the socket - but if all you want is a pocket sized, smaller than a mobile phone, gadget that will make very clear recordings of conversations, or of your own voice making notes, which you then listen to and transcribe, then this is the ticket. I'm a writer, and I'm finding this invaluable for me. If you want the recorder to have more 'bells and whistles' than this handy little tool has, I'm afraid you'll have to pay more ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not what I ordered, but a great bit of kit (13 February 2010)The Olympus VN-5000 Digital Voice Recorder replaced the Olympus VN-120 Digital Voice Recorder which gave up the ghost after 8 good years. I was disappointed to find that, having ordered an exact replacement for the earlier model, this one arrived. However, I gave it a go and, frankly, it's even better than its forerunner. Speech recording is very clear and the machine is now so designed that it is next to impossible to go wrong using it. Highly recommended. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great value (29 December 2009)I notice that some reviewers criticized this item for not having the facility to transfer to a PC. To be honest I think it represents great value for money and would expect to pay much more for this facility. I bought it for my 9yr old son as a present and he is delighted. The sound quality is excellent and although I have not read the instructions, my son had it up and running within 10mins. If you do not need the transfer facility then I would recommend this highly. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good at first but not much use when it failed (09 December 2009)Mine was the Olympus VN-120PC. It's the same as the VN-120 but the letters PC means that it has the USB interface so with the help of some supplied software you can transfer the recordings to your computer. My VN-120PC worked fine until after about 3.5 years of occasional use, it would not start up properly. It just displayed a CHK message on the screen. After a lot of fiddling I managed to get it to start, after a fashion. I transferred some invaluable recordings to the computer and following this the VN-120PC gave up the ghost. There are several mentions of this problem on the internet but no solutions! I believe the Olympus VN-5500PC Digital Voice Recorder is the more current version. So to summarise, I'd recommend you only buy one with the PC interface, and make sure you back up regularly! |
