| ![]() | Customer Reviews:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent versatile printer (09 July 2010)Rich feature set, eEasy to set up. This replaced a previous HP AIO that had given many years of good service but was starting to jam and stutter. Document feed and duplex very useful. Buttons to auto-scan-to-email and to auto-scan-to-file more problematic to set up especially to NAS drives, as there seems to be some protocol mismatch. Usual bloated set-up software, but on this occasion it seems to justify its size in terms of usability and feature set. Works well for mixed network of Macs and PCs. Make sure you place it on something sturdy, as when it gets going it tries to shake whatever it sits on. Good buy, much cheaper here than Costco. Great printer to have on small office or home network, I am looking forward to the lower ink costs. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent piece of equipment (08 July 2010)Shipping: I received the printer packed in its own box. The box is strong enough to be used this way. The printer was received one day later then indicated by Amazon. Installation (hardware): Good instructions to install all hardware. I connected the printer directly to my ADSL router. All clients are connecting wireless with the ADSL router, and so with the printer. Works well, there was no need to change port settings on my router or whatsoever. Installation (software/drivers): Instead of the disc which was delivered with the printer, I downloaded the latest drivers from HP. On both Windows 7 and Windows Vista clients (64 and 32 bit) the installation of drivers and software went smooth (max 15 to 20 minutes, depending on system specs). All clients were able to find and connect to the printer. Using the printer (and all other functions): All functions can be operated on the printer itself; I did not encounter any problems or hickups during this first month. All functions (and more, like OCR software) are working without problems from / on all clients. I did read a lot of bad reviews about this printer AFTER I bought it. So I was very worried and nervous in the first place. But after one month use I did not encounter any of the problems described in the bad reviews. So, I am very happy with the Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless. I have only one complaint. It's about the HP software and choosing the language to install. I live and work in the Netherlands, but insteat of Dutch I use English language based software on all clients. I do not know why, but HP will not let you decide which language to install. You will have to change the "Regional language options" of Windows to get the right language (accompanied with the necessary reboots). Very stupid and even more annoying if you ask me!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't Buy this Printer (16 June 2010)I bought this as replacement for an earlier model and it has given me nothing but trouble. It continues to give error messages ' load paper in tray' when the tray is full and can't be releid upon to print. The power pack died and I had to spend £20 on a replacment or wait 2 weeks for one to be sent by Customer services. I have alrready had the printer unit replaced and it still gives error messages. It is a complete waste of money and I think HP knew that when they sold it to me. Why else were they suddenly offering £50 off. It looks fantastic on paper but it is a really terrible piece of kit. I am looking to get my money back and won't be purcahsing from HP for a long time !HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Multifunction Printer, Copier, Scanner and Fax with Touch-screen LCD Display ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() HP Office Jet Pro 8500 (14 June 2010)I was looking to buy a replacement 'all-in-one' printer for a previous HP model that I'd had for 6-7 years. Am very impressed with the new model that I use for small business use. The speed & quality of the printer is very impressive; the scanning & copying functions are also first rate with the scanned documents having a default PDF file format that makes subsequent transmission of scanned documents(e.g. of paper VAT returns to accountant)much easier than before. I use a mixed cable & wireless network and this printer will work with either network configuration. A very happy new user! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() printer review (12 June 2010)It was a Which best buy,and Amazon was even cheaper. Prints well and fast and is good at double sided. Not too responsive to the wireless and needs to be switched on and off. Otherwise a good buy. Still waiting for my Cash back from HP. |
