| ![]() | Customer Reviews:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great player marred by awful touchscreen and controls (01 July 2010)I really wanted to love this player. On paper the specs are great. It plays FLAC. It's 32GB. It's a touch screen. It's inexpensive compared to many of the others. Let's start with the positives - price and size are a massive bonus. Sound quality is excellent and actually the X-Fi crystalliser settings *do* make songs sound better. Form-factor is pretty good and it's slim and light. It looks OK - nothing really spectacular but not a bad looking item. It's plug and play and very easy to drag and drop files via windows explorer. And now, to the negative - the touch screen and controls. Whoever decided that this needed to be a touch screen made one of the worst engineering decisions I have ever seen. There is NO benefit for it being a touch screen - I cannot think of a single thing that I gain from having this as a touch screen instead of physical controls like the older Zens. The volume control is really annoying and fiddly and I spend more time fiddling around with the player instead of just listening to music. As a side note there is also a problem displaying FLAC information - artists are preceded by RTIST= in the listing (and so aren't in the same alphabetical order if you also have MP3 files in there) but this isn't a big problem for me. In short, when I am just listening to music - it's great! If I have to touch it, it sucks. :) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great player, shame Windows media player fails (26 June 2010)Love the player but the sync system with windows media player simply doesn't work. It randomly deletes files from the player and replicates file. Annoying ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good ,but let down by a couple of niggles (26 June 2010)I was looking for a replacement for my Sony Network Walkman 20Gb whose battery was flagging after approx 4 years sterling service, and after looking around for more capacity (but not anything with the Apple logo) I decided on the Zen Fi-2 30Gb. Despite the reviews telling me how awful the Creative Centrale software was, I installed it,and was treated to my PC freezing every time I clicked on it. After numerous attempts I uninstalled and opted to drag and drop instead, but could have been saved a lot of hassle if Creative had supplied a MANUAL!!! Tsk! Tsk! Regarding the sound quality, that is excellent, once I put decent ear plugs in, the supplied ones weren't up to much. It doesn't seem to have the facility to just play your albums in alphabetical order, after each album I have to go back and select the next one I want to listen to, maybe a manual would have explained how etc... The touch screen is a gimmick I could have done without, as it quite often selects an artist when I'm trying to scroll through them...tedious! Volume control also fiddly for getting it just right. there is an option for selecting favourites, but I don't know if there is a numerical limit to how many you can select...maybe a manual would have explained how etc..... Kind of wish I'd stuck with Sony. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() good stuff man!!!! (21 June 2010)My CREATIVE MP3 player is very good, very easy to handle, the display screen is big enough, is really good to watch videos. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Creative lose the plot (13 June 2010)Creative ZEN X-Fi2 32GB 3 inch TouchScreen MP3 and Video Player I decided to replace/update my Creative Zen, but made a big mistake in getting the Creative ZEN X-Fi2 touch screen. The touch screen facility is absolutely dreadful to use, loading music onto it is impossible with the included software"Creative Centrale", which is frankly terrible, it is best just to drag and drop music, videos etc from your documents folders then spend hours trying to sort them out on windows explorer later. The technical support was pretty poor also All in all this player and its related issues has put me off ever buying anything from Creative again |
