| ![]() | Customer Reviews:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Very Good Player (29 July 2010)Overall this is a very good music player. I would like to give it five stars but there are a few negative bits which for me bring it down to four; Compared to an ipod nano, the ZenMX wins hands down. Good points: ------------ - Easy to use simple software; perhaps not quite as simple as iTunes, however the Zen software doesnt try to take over your computer (try to make itself the default player) like iTunes does. - Unlike an ipod, I can drag and drop files to the Zen like a folder on a computer. This is a fantastic feature. If you have a bit of knowledge about computers you don't have to install any software whatsoever if you choose not to. Just drag your IDtagged mp3s into the music folder on the player, and the player sorts it out for you. You can use one player with many computers if you wish. You may also transfer music between your players, unlike iPod. - Nice easy to navigate user interface. You can customize the menu and background however you want. - Graphic equaliser is good, and can be set to custom. - SD Card slot means you can take more music / videos with you. - Video playback is of very high quality. - You can put in an SD card from your camera and look at pictures in high quality; It's better than the back of my camera anyway. - Nice overall player look and feel - Look a lot nicer than the mozaic. Bad points: ----------- - Interface can be a SLIGHTLY slow compared to an iPod. You can't scroll through your music library as fast as an iPod, you have to click through every single album/letter of the alphabet. For all its faults, the iPod nano has a very nice clickwheel-scroll system. - The SD card music is stored separately to the main player music. If your using it, treat it as if your playing music from a different player. This separation can be useful however; for example I store compilation albums on an SD card and normal albums on the player's internal memory. The two, however never meet. You can't list both sets of music in one menu. - The SD card has to rebuild its own library EVERY TIME you turn the player on and access it. Yes EVERY TIME this takes 2-3 minutes. This only happens if your trying to play music off the SD card. If your just playing music off the player and not accessing the card at all its instantaneous. - You HAVE to use ZEN's own format for video playback. You can't just drag and drop an AVI or WMV file. You can create their format but you have to use their software, and it takes a while. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() my reliable friend (25 July 2010)I've had my Zen for a good 2-3 years and I love it. Firstly it looks great and has a fantastic price. Secondly it is SOOO easy to use. Sticking my music on has never been easier. Finally, being able to watch videos is easy. The player comes with video conversion software so often I will rip DVDs from my collection before converting them to watch on my player during my commute. Incidentally, you can actually download programs from BBC iplayer onto the MP3 player as they are compatible. You can't do that if you have an Ipod. No conversion is necessary. It has frozen on me just once, still has a good battery life and the external slot means I can have audio books on there and they don't get mixed up with my music. Absolutely brilliant. I love it to bits. High Quality, good value, reliable. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Creative Zen MX 16GB (25 July 2010)For the spec and money this Zen MX is a very impressive little MP3 player. You can play your music, photos and videos, as well as listen to a fm radio, set alarms, use a voice recorder and set up an organiser, all on a unit the size of a credit card! You can also customize the back screen so it is of a colour you like. The sound quality is very impressive and that was on the pre-set EQ setting, once you tailor it for your own preferences you will be in sonic heaven. The volume range is more than adequate as well. The 2'5 inch screen is fairly decent when selecting your music, but for prolonged photo or video viewing it can be a touch too small, but this is perfect for those snaps you may want to quickly share at odd moments or those you want with you at all times. This has an expandable memory via an SD card and whilst the onboard 16GB may seem too small for some users, this is easily rectified with additional cards; for my main music use this is more than acceptable. This was quick and easy to transfer music to and although it comes with some Creative interface, you can just as easily drag and drop, which is what I did. The battery life is fairly decent on a MP3 of this size and whilst it comes with a USB cable for charging, I invested in a mains charger which was cheap to find here on Amazon. In fact the USB is the only down side to the whole package, it is extremely short and not practical in the slightest. I used an existing cable I owned and kept the MP3 player out of harms way on top of my desk as I transferred music. But as you can see, this is a very minor issue with what is a very adaptable and impressive player. After many years of Sony use and their terrible ATRAC software, I am glad to get my hands on this and can't see myself going back. Overall this is an impressive little player, with decent sound and features and although there may be better units for photos and videos, this is still well worth buying for what it offers all round. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Creative review (19 July 2010)This seems a great product for the price and easy to use even for someone over 50. Good value, speedy delivery and easy to get to grips with. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good stuff (14 July 2010)Very good mp3 for the price, although disapointed that it isn't actually 16GB but only around 14.. odd |
