Perfectly good alternative to the official Apple cable (26 August 2010)Not wishing to pay £15 or more for the Apple official cable, I came to Amazon to see what compatibles were available. I plumped for this one, as it had some good customer reviews and was only just over £1 with free shipping. A bargain. The item arrived in three or four days (excellent service) and I'm very pleased with it. It appears robust, fits my iPod Touch very well and syncs and charges with my iMac exactly as the Apple original does. It also charges from my Windows-based work PC (although I don't use that machine for syncing, so can't tell you if it syncs properly - but can see no reason why it shouldn't). I've read a number of reviews (for this product and other similar ones) where people have given a bad review because it's not an Apple original part. Sorry, but if you want official Apple cables then you're going to need to spend more than £1. Likewise the people that complain about not getting an adaptor / plug with it so they can connect it to the mains; you won't get that for £1. What you do get for £1 is a perfectly good cable that does exactly what it says on the tin. Would recommend to anyone. Fragile (05 August 2010)It works fine but the casing of the iphone plug has a habit of falling apart while you squeeze the release buttons - not disastrous but fiddly to reassemble. Be very gentle with it. |
