| ![]() | Customer Reviews:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() USB Adapter review (09 September 2010)I bought this "40 Meter EDR Bluetooth" Dongle to use with my Nokia Music Express fone, it works brilliantly, no more searching for the fone's usb cable, just plug in the dongle and away we go, I have purchased 2 of these Adapters, the second was for a friend who saw mine in use and had to have one ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Better on Vista & Windows 7 than XP (07 September 2010)The Widcomm comes with drivers for XP & Vista. I have XP, Vista & Windows 7 on my own PC, so I thought I might have some problems with the Windows 7 installation, as there isn't a dedicated driver for this yet. I installed mine on 7 using the Vista driver, as 7 is closer to Vista than XP. In the event, the dongle works extremely well, with absolutely no problems regarding connections or data transfer. Thankfully, it's one of those devices that allows you to select large files & transfer them without having to nursemaid the equipment as the data is being transferred. The same comments apply to Vista as well. On XP, it's just a little bit more tricky to set up. It still works well, but it's more complicated to synchronise with the recipient PC or phone. Once you have it set up, though, it works as well with XP as the other two platforms. I think this is more to do with XP being a bit old & ricketty now, rather than there being anything intrinsically wrong with the Widcomm software, although my old Trust dongle was a bit easier to set up on XP. Still, it's worth bearing in mind before purchasing. I am so impressed with it that I have ordered a second one for my wife's laptop, which I have reloaded with Windows 7. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ???? (24 August 2010)Sorry can't really review the product cos I purchased it as a gift for someone, they havn't got back to me to say it was no good so I presume it is ok ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 40 Meter EDR Bluetooth USB Adapter (12 July 2010)Worked on Ubuntu 10.04 first time out of the box without any software installation. Got it to work on XP with help from supplied mini CD. Well worth it for the tiny price. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bluetooth dongle (10 July 2010)I use this to connect my Nokia 2720 to Nokia PC Suite running on a PC with Windows XP (service pack3). As other reviewers have noted, this dongle uses the Widcomm software, which once installed, works without any fuss or bother. I did have some problems with the initial installation, but with a little perseverance I found a workaround for the problem (I had to fiddle with the Windows manual install function). Ease of installation is always going to be a bit of a lottery because it can be very dependent upon the set up of a particular PC. My Nokia 2720 does seem to be difficult to connect to bluetooth devices and that was no different with this device, but the dongle paired without problems when trying another Nokia phone. So, I think that the dongle is likely to perform well with most devices, unless there is a known issue. Like other reviewers, I would advise steering clear of bluetooth dongles using Bluesoleil (not sure if it is software or firmware), for use with Nokia phones. Nokia claim that their phones are compatible with Bluesoleil, my experience is that they are NOT. So even if the hardware appears to be identical, I agree with the recommendation by others to avoid any dongle using the Bluesoleil s/w. (I can't comment on other phone manufacturers) |
